Como House

Como House and Garden is a mansion that was built by Australian aristocracy back in 1847, just prior to the gold rush.

Built by the Armytage family, this house remained in their family for over a century and became famous on the Melbourne high society scene. Today, Como House is managed by the National Trust.

Visitors are welcome to come and tour Como House and Gardens, as the house is still filled with much of the family furniture and heirlooms taking visitors back in time to this opulent period. House tours run every weekend at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm and tickets can be purchased online. Visitors will view the kitchen, dining room and bedrooms of this beautiful property

Weddings are also very popular here. The garden is the most popular location for weddings and commitment ceremonies while functions, private parties or corporate functions often book the Ballroom or Pavillion. Como House can host up to 120 people for a wedding or function and a catered reception can also be held in the Ballroom.

Como House also hosts a number of events throughout the year including a vintage market and clothing sale, beekeeping demonstrations and art shows. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the amazing gardens during the day, so come on down with family and friends and enjoy this national treasure.

You can easily reach Como House via public transport. Simply catch a number 8 tram from the city and alight at Williams Road (stop 34). Como House is just a short 2 minute walk north from there. If driving, street parking is available around the venue.
