Polly Woodside is a preserved iron-hulled sailing vessel; originally built in Belfast and launched in 1885. The presence of Polly Woodside is a central feature of the South Wharf area.

William J. Woodside was the designer of this ship; the name of the ship also shares the designer’s last name.

The chief purpose of building this vessel was intended for deep-water trade around the world and was designed to be operated for economic purposes. During its first maritime adventures, the crew on the Polly Woodside experienced a voyage around a new world.
