Pipemakers Park Maribyrnong VIC, Walks along the River & BBQ Picnics

Just as the name suggests, the park was once one a pipe making industrial site complete with a meat preserving factory. Established in the 1840s, the site churned out pipes for commercial use before it was developed into a park and opened to the public in 1984.

The bluestone factories have since been converted to community buildings. In addition to this, a wharf was constructed to ease transport as well as link the park to the river trail. The trail is ideal for nature walks, cycling as well as jogging, and it provides splendid views of the Maribyrnong River.

Some of the amenities available at the Pipemakers Park include BBQ facilities and picnic tables for a great afternoon in the outdoors. Fishing is permitted at the wharf, and you may enjoy a boat ride as you soak in the park’s beauty.

A trip to the park is incomplete without passing by the Living Museum where you can get information before taking a self-guided tour.

You can access the park by public transport using tram #57 or #82 and getting off at stop 43 – Van Ness Avenue. Walk 800m south along the river bank to the park. So come on over to Pipemakers Park for a lovely day in the great outdoors.
