Melbourne International Jazz Festival 2024 Dates & Program Schedule

If you love jazz music, enjoy a live performance at this popular jazz festival in Melbourne – a must-see event for all music lovers.

The Melbourne International Jazz Festival was first held in 1998, with many volunteers joining the management team to help manage and organise the event.

Previous festivals celebrated the icons of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with performances by Bill Frisell, Patti Austin, James Morrison, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on opening night at Hamer Hall.

Three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Dianne Reeves also performed at the festival at Hamer Hall. There will be many performances scheduled, with a number of free events.

If you are interested, there are many ways to get involved in the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Volunteering: The festival would not be possible without the dedicated group of volunteers who give their time and skills during and in the lead-up to the festival.

Employment: MIJF has a small year-round team. Each year, there are a limited number of contract positions advertised in the lead-up to the festival. Opportunities are advertised on the Employment section of the official website and through e-news and social media.

Performing: MIJF is a fully curated event; as such, invitations to perform are extended by the Festival’s Artistic Director, and there is no open registration process. If you are interested in participating as a performer, they take expressions of interest for specific projects.

There are so many events and performances during the festival we can’t mention them all here. Please refer to the official program for full dates, times, venues, and ticket prices.
