Hampton Beach

Hampton Beach is a lovely spot along the Melbourne’s south-east coastal strip. Popular with sun bathers and swimmers in summer, you will find plenty to enjoy about this beach.

The beach consists of about 900 metres of pristine sand with calm and refreshing water, perfect for a morning or afternoon stroll.

Hampton Beach Melbourne, Picnics, Parking, Cafe & Public Transport

There is a seawall here along the beach which provides a great spot for fishing, but swimmers should make sure to avoid this area.

Swimming is very popular here during the summer months and you will also find increasing numbers of people going paddleboarding, kiteboarding and windsurfing here. The beach is generally patrolled by surf lifesavers over the weekends in the summer months.

Bring a picnic along and head to the lovely grassed area right near the beach where you can find some shade under the pine trees. The Hampton shops are located just 2 minutes from the beach where you can purchase sandwiches, cold drinks and icecreams.

Amenities available at the surf life saving club near the beach include outdoor showers and bathroom facilities and there is also limited parking along the main road.

You can get to Hampton Beach via public transport. Catch a train on the Sandringham Line from the CBD and get off at Hampton Station. The beach is a short 5 minute walk away.
