More than 114,000 Australians had served in these great wars of the world, with this special monument built as a memorial to all citizens of Victoria who served and died in these wars.

Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne History, Map & Address

Visitors often stop by this famous landmark. The unique feature of the Shrine is its amazing structure, design and lighting features.

The Shrine is beautifully designed, in fact, its unique Ray of Light falls on a sacred stone on every 11th of November at 11am. This unique feature will keep on working for at least 5,000 years. This shows the skilfulness of those designers, architects and astronomers who took part in designing and building the Shrine and all its unique features.

The site also features a beautiful water garden, also known as the Remembrance Garden. This water garden also includes the western slopes of the Shrine, which depicts some of the notable armed conflicts during the mid-1900s.

Visitors coming here will get the opportunity to explore the significance of this site. Also, they will learn more about the Australian involvement in several wars, armed conflicts and World Wars.

Guided tours are conducted within the Shrine every day. Guests are welcome to take these tours to explore and learn more about the Shrine and its unique features.

For an educational and comprehensive experience, you can also participate in the ongoing programs of the Visitor Centre and Education Centre at the Shrine.

Come and pay homage to all those who fought and lost their lives during those dreadful wars in our history.
