Melbourne Horse & Carriage Rides / Tour Prices

Typically, the rides last between half an hour and two hours, depending on your booking and most carriages seat between 2-8 people. A longer tour will give you plenty of time to check out a range of Melbourne sites including the Yarra River, the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Shrine of Remembrance, the Arts Centre, Federation Square, St. Patricks Cathedral, Houses of Parliament, Fitzroy Gardens, China Town and the iconic Flinders Street station.

Tours are scheduled both during the day and during the evenings, so choose which option suits you best. There are open and closed topped carriages to suit every type of weather.

Melbourne lights up at night, so a horse carriage ride can be a unique way to explore the city after dark. Sit back and relax and let the tour do the work for you.

Tours depart from Federation Square opposite Flinders Street Station. Carriages are available for tours on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Click the link below to book your carriage ride today!

  • Hi there,
I was just wondering is there a booking fee to pay online (via mastercard)? How close to the day should I book, and if I cant pay online, would it be possible to ring up and book it but pay in cash on the day?
Also, do you guys go past St kilda beach/Luna park? I was hoping you guys could possible drop us off there, i will be happy to pay a bit extra.

    • Hi Kyal, thanks for contacting us.

There is no charge or service fee for processing credit-card payments, so the price you see is the price you pay. Unfortunately, we don’t offer over the phone bookings, but you can book as close as 24hrs in advance online.

If you would like to be dropped off at another location, this may be organised directly with the driver, however an additional cost of approximately $50 is required and will have to be paid on the day in cash.

I hope this answers all of your questions! I have attached the booking link for you here.

Have a great time on your carriage ride in Melbourne!

  • Hey,
I just want to know is it 200 for each person or is that all together? Would it be safe for a 2 1/2 year old who owns a horse? We live in the country and are around horses everyday. Thank you, kind regards Chloe

    • Hi Chloe,

The carriage rides are perfectly suitable for children of all ages. They go at a slow pace to allow you to enjoy all of the Melbourne sites as you go by.

The price is $200 per carriage, and the carriages fit up to 6 passengers. You can book your tour here.

Have a great time touring Melbourne!

      Best regards,

  • Hello, I am interested to use your horse carriage (30 minutes) for my pre-wedding photoshoot on July 8th, 2016 at St. Patrick Cathedral. Can I please order one carriage not for tour, but only stay at the place for photoshoot? And I would like to request white horses, in white/gold theme, so it will suit my outfit nicely. Thank you

    • Hi Felicia, we are not the operators of the tours, so you will have to make contact with them directly.

I have attached a link here with their contact details. There are a number of Horse Carriage operators in the Melbourne CBD, so I would recommend getting a price from a few of them.

Best of luck for your photo shoot!
