Regent Theatre

Regent Theatre has been a part of Melbourne’s rich heritage since early last century. Back in 1929, this theatre first opened as an impressive palace – However, the fate of the Regent Theatre had much turmoil to experience in the coming years.

The theatre survived a flood and fire, and after twenty years, the venue was refurbished and renovated. In August 1996, the theatre was reopened to the public after a series of renovations and changes.

The Regent Theatre Melbourne, Seating Plan & Parking

After so many years, the Regent Theatre has got back its old glory and charm, and is now more lavish and impressive than ever before.

The theatre venue has housed some of the world’s most renowned theatre productions; such as Disney’s The Lion King, Sunset Boulevard, We Will Rock You, Wicked, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, King Kong and the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies.

The design of this theatre features similar styles to the many other popular vintage theatres of the nation; including a grand and beautiful triumphal arch, Victorian decors and giant columns.

Even the interiors of the Regent theatre are beautifully designed and maintained. You will see those exquisite decors, terracotta treatments and amazing foyers inside the theatre. Some of its original interior designs resemble the renaissance.

Seating plans will vary based on the type and size of each event, but here is an example of a past event held at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne.

    • Hi Pam,

There are a number of parking garages right near the Regent Theatre. Try Wilson Parking at 189 Flinders Lane and 160 Flinders Lane.

Otherwise, there are a number of parking garages along Russell Street and down at Federation Square, which is a short 5 minute walk away from the theatre.

      Regards,
      Jess

        • Hi Lisa,

You will need to pay for off-street parking in one of the parking garages.

Check with Wilson Parking garages, as there are about 5 located within a block or two of the Regent Theatre. You may need to call and book a space ahead of time to make sure they have a spot for your particular-sized van.

          Regards,
          Jess

    • Hi Chris,

Not sure what image you are referring to, but the main image at the top of the page is certainly of the Regent Theatre in Melbourne (look at the writing on the front of the building – it actually says “Regent Theatre” on it).

As for the seating plans, they will vary slightly from event to event, but I’ve verified that it’s still the same for many theatre shows on the Ticketmaster website.

      Thanks,
      Michael
