Not only does Melbourne Park host many of the best and most popular sporting venues in Australia, but also contains beautiful parks where visitors can walk, ride, picnic and enjoy.

Melbourne Park Events, Tennis & Function Centre Map

Melbourne Park was opened back in 1988 and was initially built for the famous Australian Open. Later, Melbourne Park became a primary venue for many sporting events; such as basketball, cycling events, netball games and even motorsport.

In January each year, Melbourne Park becomes an international hot-spot as it hosts the famous Australian Open tennis tournament.

While the area is best known for hosting the Australian Open every year, Melbourne Park also plays host to a large number of other sporting and musical events throughout the year. The venues within Melbourne Park are well utilised by many popular international performers as they boast a large seating capacity, as well as the best facilities.

Some of the arenas have retractable roofs, which mean that they are able to be utilised all-year-round. In particular, Rod Laver Arena is known to sell out during the Australian Open tennis, as well as during concerts for international artists – so it always pays to book tickets well in advance.
