Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway Vic, Train Rides Prices & Opening Hours

Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway is only operational on the third Sunday of every month, between 11am and 4pm. Steam trains will not run on total fire bans, instead internal combustion powered trains will run. Its management and operations are overseen by the Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway Society alongside the Rotary Club of Balwyn.

It is advisable to arrive early enough so that you have plenty of time to enjoy quiet rides before the crowds arrive. Board the steam train at the station and get ready for the ride of a lifetime. The station master will wave the flag to signal the start of the train adventure. Please make sure to wear closed toe shoes, sandals or thongs are not permitted to be worn on the trains.

Typically, each trip consists of two laps round the track with bends and a tunnel. After the train rides, visitors get to choose from any of the varied entertainment options available. A lovely playground beckons the kids for a great fun-filled afternoon.
