Melbourne International Jazz Festival – 2019 Dates & Program Schedule
The Melbourne International Jazz festival was first held in 1998, with a number of volunteers also join the management team to help manage and organise the event. Interested individuals are always welcome to be a part in this event, as it promotes all forms of jazz music. Novice jazz bands and musicians are always welcome to participate and showcase their talents.
Previous festivals celebrated the icons of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with performances by Bill Frisell, Patti Austin, James Morrison and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall on opening night. Three time Grammy Award winning artists Dianne Reeves also performed at the festival at Hamer Hall. There will be many performances scheduled, with a number of free events.
If you want to get involved, head to the State Library lawn for the “Jazz Massive” on Sunday, where you can join in with your harmonica, recorder, voice or any other instrument in a specially commissioned piece of music for this festival.
