Flagstaff Gardens

In line with government guidelines to reduce Coronavirus (COVID-19) risk, all playgrounds, skate parks, BBQs, picnic tables and picnic areas and outdoor gym equipment are closed until further notice

Flagstaff Gardens is another popular park in Melbourne. As one of the oldest parks in the CBD, these beautifully maintained gardens have been a part of Melbourne since its establishment in 1862.

As Flagstaff Gardens is located at the west end of the CBD, many Melbournians stop by to relax during their day. Many people also gather for personal training sessions, or a simple walk or run around the grounds.

As the park is on the outer edge of the city, visitors can drive to either King or Dudley streets to access the park. Alternatively, Flagstaff railway station is right across the road.

Flagstaff Gardens includes 18 acres of landscaped gardens boasting a variety of native flora species that include Morton Bay figs, eucalyptus and many other varieties of deciduous trees. In addition, there are a variety of rose bushes, shrubs and ornamental species within the park.

The spacious lawn and garden beds are beautifully maintained all year-round, and an array of excellent sculptures and monuments are set out all across the park.

Visitors can also have a great picnic here, as there are numerous sites within the gardens that feature electric BBQ facilities. Those looking for activities will be happy to know that the northern end of the park has a bowling lawn, volleyball courts, netball courts, tennis courts and even a children’s playground.
