Run Melbourne (formerly “The Age Run Melbourne”) is a great running event that encourages participants of all ages to come forward and showcase their athletic skills. Participants of this event will enjoy the race, get fit and have some fun – all at the same time.
This event is presented by People’s Choice in Melbourne, with the revenue generated from the day supporting a local charity – raising more than a million dollars every year
Run Melbourne 2021 Dates, City Route & Program Schedule
The starting point for the races is as follows: half-marathon: corner of Elizabeth St and Flinders St and the 10km and 5km: at the intersection of St Kilda Road and just south of Linlithgow Avenue.
There is no specific charity nominated for the event, instead, all participants and sponsors are offered the choice from a list of 450 charities in Melbourne. Over the course of previous year’s events, a number of local charities and communities have benefited immensely, as well as more than thousands of children and families.
Everybody is welcome to participate, with the run bringing people together to raise much-needed funds for a variety of charities. For spectators, the best places to view the runners/walkers are:
1. St Kilda Road/Linlithgow Ave (start line)
2. Alexandra Avenue (a fun spot where DJs will play music as participants pass)
3. Batman Avenue (close proximity to the finish line)
4. Flinders Street (all participants for all races will pass this point)
For those travelling to the event, please note that car parking is extremely limited. It is strongly recommended you use public transport to get to the event. Train and trams are available. Alight at Flinders Street Station and walk to Federation Square for directions to start line.
Please find below the course maps and schedule for this year’s event.
Can you pay a late entry on the morning of the Run Melbourne?
Hi Cathie,
It appears you can:
“Can I enter on the day?
Yes, there will be entries from 6:00am on the day (Sunday, 30 July) at Federation Square. Entries are also taken from 8:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday 29, July at Federation Square.”
Kind regards,
Jess
We would like to provide a BBQ for our entrants after the event. Can you suggest anywhere where we can set up the barbie without having to carry it too far. Is the MCG carpark likely to be open?
Our team is “For Ryno”, the charity is Fight MND.
Hi Elaine,
Yarra Park is always open to pedestrians, however Alexandra Gardens near Fed Square might be closer for you. There are a number of BBQ’s along the Yarra if you want to use those. No bookings are required.
Kind regards,
Jess
