Each year, the Big Design Market creates large-scale installations for each of the Sydney and Melbourne events featuring the artwork of an exceptional designer from our exhibitor line-up. After wowing audiences at New York and Paris Fashion Weeks, fashion designer Tara Whalley has been selected to create the major installation at The Big Design Market Almost Winter 2023. Tara’s signature prints will create a breathtaking, floral-inspired art installation with vibrant colour blooming from the Great Dome at the Royal Exhibition Building.
Visitors to The Big Design Market can also enjoy delicious food and drinks from local taste-makers, free kids activities and much more!
To ensure everyone has a relaxed day of shopping, there is plenty of room in the aisles with enough space to stop and chat with friends and a dedicated kids area with creative activities to keep them entertained.
A quiet zone is available within the venue where visitors can sit away from the main thoroughfares and busy eating areas. This area is lit with house lights only, so it will be slightly darker and quieter than the rest of the event. Some seating is provided and visitors are also welcome to sit on the floor picnic-style. Please pick up a visitor map at the information desk when you arrive.
There is a dedicated area for kid’s activities at the back of the event where children and their families can participate in calming activities, including crafts and colouring-in. Tables and chairs are provided for children, and staff are available to assist with the activities. Coffee and snacks are easily accessible next to the Kid’s Area.
Tickets are available for purchase online before the event. You can also purchase tickets at the door using a credit/debit card. Please note The Big Design Market is a cashless event. There are several ticket points, so queuing will be minimal.
Get to the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton via tram #86 or #96 and alight at the corner of Nicholson and Gertrude Streets. Alternatively, you can catch the free City Circle tram to Victoria Parade or take the City Loop train and alight at Parliament Station.
Enter the venue via Nicholson St. entrance doors or the main entrance opposite the Melbourne Museum. Parking is also available at the Melbourne Museum undercover car park via Rathdowne Street or Nicholson Street.
