Altona

Altona is a town located about 13 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD and is a popular residential hub in the western suburbs.

One of the most notable features about Altona is its beautiful gardens and parks, shopping centres as well as easy access to the beach.

Altona beach is one of the most popular destinations in Altona and the pier on location at the beach is a heritage-listed site that makes for a great spot to relax and catch up with friends.

Altona is home to many different sporting clubs and facilities including football, netball, soccer, hockey, basketball and cricket. There are also a number of gardens and recreational reserves in Altona including Cherry Lake, Truganina Coastal Parklands and the Altona Coastal Park.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Hobsons Bay Trail is great cycling and walking track that runs along the coastline and is the perfect way to discover Altona. Altona also hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Altona Beach Film Festival held in August each year.

For all your shopping needs, head to the Altona Gate Shopping Centre which is located on Millers Road and has a Coles Supermarket, newsagency, banks, clothing, accessories, bakeries, butchers, hair and beauty as well as a large food court.

Altona is serviced by a reliable transport system including trains and buses. There are three railway stations including Seaholme, Westona and Altona. The following bus routes are also available to and from Altona: #903, #411, #412 and #415.
