Maribyrnong is a residential suburb located 8 kilometres north-west from the CBD and is bordered by the popular suburbs of Footscray & Essendon.

The suburb was named after the Maribyrnong River whose waters from the suburb’s boundary to the east and north.

Maribyrnong as a diverse culture with a large percentage of Chinese, Italian, Indian and Vietnamese residents. These different groups reflect on the suburb’s vibrant culinary scene.

Maribyrnong is best known for the large shopping mall located here known as Highpoint. The shopping complex includes four levels with over 500 stores. You’ll find major retailers and department stores that include Myer, David Jones, Big W, Toys R Us, Target and a Woolworths supermarket. Highpoint also features a range of designer fashion stores, department stores, electronic shops and specialty stores. For your entertainment, there is a large Hoyts Cinema complex that even features a Digital IMAX theatre.

Visit Pipemakers Park Living Museum, an interesting park because its eco-museum setting focuses on the region’s history in every facet: environmental, social and industrial to give a holistic view of the suburb. Other parks include Harmony Park, Thompson reserve and Village Green.

Transport is both accessible and convenient in Maribyrnong with tram routes 57 and 82 servicing the area. Alternatively, take the bus via routes 215, 223, 406, 409 and 468.
