Cranbourne Racecourse is a popular horse racing venue that is located in the residential suburb of Cranbourne, 50kms south-east of Melbourne.

Cranbourne Racecourse is one of the most popular destinations for race-goers in Melbourne, thanks to the ever popular Cranbourne Cup held in October each year.

This racecourse is historic, as racing commenced here way back in 1867. Today, Cranbourne Racecourse hosts dog racing, harness racing and also operates as a horse and dog training facility. Races occur during the day and, since 2012, regular night meetings are also held.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to any of the race meets, alternatively you could enjoy a tasty meal at any of the dining rooms located at the track. BYO alcohol is not permitted, however you can purchase alcohol from the track.

If attending a race, the gates will typically open 90 minutes prior to the first race. A neat casual dress code is encouraged with no thongs or ripped clothing. For premier race days, the skies the limit with how formal you wish to dress as spring fashion is one of the fun parts of going to the races. Kids under 16 get in for free.

There is plenty of car parking available on site, however if you wish to take public transport, catch a Cranbourne Line Train and get off at Cranbourne Station. On major race days, shuttle buses run from the station to the track. On days when there are no shuttle buses, the track is only 2kms so you can walk or catch a taxi.
