Cranbourne is a residential suburb located 43 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD. Its local government area is managed by the City of Casey, and the suburb is divided into four regions: Cranbourne, Cranbourne West, Cranbourne East and Cranbourne North.

The suburb’s British settlers arrived in the mid-19th century and the area continued to develop following the opening of the post office in 1857.

Cranbourne’s proximity to the Mornington Peninsula makes the suburb a favourite for travellers looking to enjoy the region’s attractions. The most popular attraction is the Royal Botanic Gardens. The numerous bird species make the gardens a perfect location for bird-watching.

The Australian Garden is a key feature at the gardens too as it features exhibition gardens and sculptures. Other features at the Royal Botanic Gardens include the Eucalypt Walk whose many eucalyptus trees make for a serene walk and a Desert Discovery Camp where kids can run and play.

Other facilities within Cranbourne include the Casey Complex that houses an indoor sports centre and skating facility, The Cranbourne Racecourse as well as a Multicultural Community Centre. Golf lovers are spoilt for choice with different options including Amstel Golf Club, Cranbourne Golf club as well as Ranfurlie Golf Club.

There are two key retail precincts in Cranbourne: Thompson Parkway Shopping Centre and Cranbourne Homemaker Centre. With heaps of specialty stores, there is every reason to enjoy your shopping experience while visiting Cranbourne.

Cranbourne is well serviced by the public transport system with trains running on the Cranbourne Line all the way to Cranbourne Station.
