Melbourne Ballpark

Melbourne Ballpark was opened in 1990 and is one of the largest softball and baseball parks in Melbourne.

Also known as the State Baseball Softball Centre, Melbourne Ballpark has a capacity for 3900 spectators and is used widely by many Australian teams as well as international competitions.

One of the most unique features about the ballpark is its hydraulic pitchers mound that caters for both softball and baseball in a remarkably effortless manner. Since the two games have different ground specifications, the mound is lowered during softball games, and then heightened to provide grounds for baseball games.

More importantly, the surface at the ballpark (synthetic grass) is specially designed to give the almost-perfect bounce regardless of weather conditions. For visitors who’d love to watch the games, the facility boasts a main grandstand with seating capacity for 2200 people. The standing-room area offers additional space beyond the seating capacity.

Amenities provided at the park include corporate boxes, state of the art sound systems, TV lighting as well as modern player amenities. There is ample parking space on location, making this a convenient place to watch your favourite baseball games.

Melbourne Ballpark is located just off Geelong Freeway in Altona. Take a train from Flinders Street and get off at Laverton, from where the stadium is a short 10-minute walk. You may also take bus 216, 219, or 220 from Lonsdale Street to Leeds Street, from where you will take another bus route 411 to Linden Street.
