The Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) is an independent festival which shows films in venues around Melbourne from new and upcoming filmmakers.

The MUFF has been running since the year 2000, so 2017 will mark its 18th year on the Melbourne scene.

Celebrating Australian Cinema, MUFF aims to support and promote Australian and International features to an Australian audience and many of the films which make up their programs are being shown to audiences for the very first time.

MUFF also hosts the “Mini MUFF” which are a series of short films. Overall, the festival will play over 100 films each year and will include a variety of genres including comedies, dramas, thrillers and documentaries.

There are a number of venues which MUFF uses to showcase this event including the Alex Theatre in St. Kilda and the Backlot Cinema in Fitzroy. There are usually 3 film sessions each night (7pm, 8pm and 9pm) and the festival runs for 2 weeks.

So gather up some friends and grab your tickets ahead of time. Tickets will be available through Ticketek and/or Moshtix closer to the event.
