While some of Melbourne’s top skyscrapers offer popular observation decks, none of them can match the uniqueness and the experience offered at the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel.
This huge observation Ferris wheel offers an excellent bird’s eye view of the beautiful Melbourne skyline as well as many of the surrounding neighbourhoods.
Melbourne Star Observation Ferris Wheel Tickets, Discount Prices & Hours
Experience the vibrant skyline of Melbourne like never before. From the wheel, you’ll get a wide view of the vibrant cityscape. As you proceed skywards, you’ll experience different views from each height. You’ll not only see the cityscape but also enjoy panoramic views of the distant landscapes. Inside the cabins, there is a complimentary audio tour in English which will detail some of the history of Melbourne as well point out some of the many sights you will see.
Each rotation takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, so visitors should allow between 45-60 minutes in order to fully enjoy this experience. The last flight departs at 9:30pm, so visitors should purchase tickets prior to 9:15pm.
The Melbourne Star is an accessible attraction and some restrictions on motorised and non-motorised wheelchairs apply. Each cabin can accommodate up to 20 people, and staff will do their best to ensure that groups are kept together, however, this is not always possible and therefore larger groups are advised to pre-book a private cabin.
The Melbourne Star is located on Waterfront Way in Docklands, within close proximity to The District Docklands ( formerly Harbour Town) shopping precinct. Surrounded by many cafes, bars and restaurants, there is so much to see and do in this part of Melbourne. Take a stroll through The District Docklands or stop for lunch or dinner.
Parking is available within walking distance of Melbourne Star. Access is from Footscray Road with car parks located on Waterfront Way and Pearl River Road. Parking is available from $10 per day. Melbourne’s free tram network also comes to Docklands. Just catch the #70 tram from Flinders Street, the #86 from Bourke Street or the #35 City Circle Tram.

Hi Brett,
Unfortunately the 2 for 1 deal has finished (it ran in October and November).
If you would still like to purchase tickets for your son in law and grandson, you can get them here.
Best regards,
Jess
Hi we are one adult and two kids one kid 7 yrs n other 15yrs. So can I buy one ticket for kids. Or how does this hot special work. Pls advise I want to purchase a ticket before end date. Thanks heaps Renuka
Hi Renuka,
The deal works this way: You can get 2 for 1 tickets for the child tickets and you will have to pay retail for the adult ticket unless you can find someone to come along with you.
So when choosing your tickets, select one child ticket (which will come up as ‘quantity 2 tickets’) and one adult ticket (which will also come up with quantity 2 tickets’). This will effectively give you 4 admission tickets. So try and find another adult to come with you so you can also get the discount for the adult tickets. You will be paying the same price whether one adult or two adults come along, but another adult can effectively come for free under this deal.
Here is the link to the deal.
Best regards,
Jess
Hi
We are hoping to do a flight on Father’s Day – Sunday 4th September 2016. Can we book a cabin or flight? We have a group of seven we have already purchase the tickets online.
Thanks
Hi Nish,
Individual cabins can’t be booked unless you make a private booking beforehand (generally for 10+ people). As you have already purchased your tickets, I would recommend you get in touch with Melbourne Star directly on Email: [email protected]. It can’t hurt go get in touch to see if they can accommodate your request in some way.
Have a great fathers day, and make sure to take up the offer from the nearby Harbour Town Hotel to get Dad a free beer or soft drink on the day.
Regards,
Jess
I would like to know what number tram to catch from Southern Cross station to get to the Melbourne Star observation wheel.
Hi Barbara,
The Docklands is part of the CBD free tram zone, meaning you can catch a tram to the Docklands from anywhere within the free tram zone at no cost! Trams which will bring you direct to the Waterfront City/Harbour Town Shopping Centre – Stop D11, an easy walking distance to the Star are: The City Circle tram, Tram 86 (via Bourke Street), Tram 70 (via Flinders Street).
Regards,
Jess
Hi, I would like to know how much my family would be. We have 4 adults and one child under age of 8 and the other age 4. My intention is to go in September.
Hi Wan,
The price will be $91. You will pay only $70 for the 4 adults and $21 for the 8 year old child. The 4 year old will be admitted for free.
Here is the link to the discount deal. You will need to purchase before the 31st of July 2016 and you can then redeem your trip in September as the tickets are valid for 12 months.
Have a great time!
Regards,
Jess
Can I buy this deal and use it on the 31st ?
Hi Meaghan,
Yes you can. In fact, the 2 for 1 offer allows you to simply purchase before the 31st and redeem anytime. So do you don’t need to redeem it before the 31st if that doesn’t suit you.
For your convenience, I have pasted the link to the deal for you here.
Enjoy the Melbourne Star!
Regards,
Jess
Hi just wondering if there is a special for families of 4 Adults And two children age 7 and 10
Thank you
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for contacting us.
Unfortunately Experience Oz (the site we use for specials) is not offering family tickets at the moment.
If you head to the official site, you can get two sets of family tickets (2Ad + 1Ch) which will be the best priced tickets for your group at the moment.
Enjoy the Melbourne Star!
Regards,
Jess
