The suburb’s history can be traced back to the early land estates in 1852 where land allotments were sold. In spite of these sales, the region did not develop as fast at the time. Fast forward to the 21st century and Sandringham is now a bustling bay side suburb that boasts some of the most stunning locations in Victoria.

The suburb’s key attractions include the Trevor Barker Beach Oval, an iconic football ground located on Beach Road. Other sports clubs of interest include the Sandringham Anglers Club, Croquet Club and the Indoor Sports Club. There is also a golf club and yacht club located here which is very popular with residents.

Sandringham is popular for those taking a trip to the beach as there are lovely sandy shores as well as walking tracks for runners and cyclists. You will find plenty of cafes and restaurants in Sandringham with choices of Chinese, Thai, Greek, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine as well as a number of pubs and bars.

The main business district of Sandringham is located around Station Street with clothing stores, hairdressers, banks, a newsagent, bookshops, Coles Supermarket and chemists in this area. You will also find a police station, medical centre and dentists, as well as public and private schools. The closest large mall is Westfield Southland, which is located just 4kms east of Sandringham, in the nearby suburb of Cheltenham.

A reliable transport network makes Sandringham a great destination. Trains frequent this suburb, with this suburb being the last stop on the Sandringham train line.
