Doncaster

Doncaster is a residential suburb located 17 kilometres north-east from the Melbourne CBD and is fondly referred to as ‘Donny’.

The suburb is largely centred around Doncaster Hill which is one of the highest points in Melbourne and it offers panoramic views of the city, Port Phillip Bay, the Dandenong Ranges, Macedon Ranges and You Yang Ranges.

Doncaster is best known for the large shopping mall located here. Doncaster houses a Myer, David Jones, Target and Big W as well as supermarkets including Coles, Woolworths, Liquorland, BWS and fresh fruit and vegetable grocers.

You will also find a huge range of specialty stores with brands including Chanel and Bally, as well as clothing stores, accessories, home wares, electronics, beauty and hair and books. Services at Doncaster include an Australia Post, various banks, hairdressers, key cutters, repair shops, nail salons, travel agents, news agent and car wash. There is also a large cinema showing all the latest blockbusters and new releases.

Doncaster is also home to many parks and gardens with a great playground for kids called The Boulevarde Playground as well as a golf course called Eastern Golf Club.

Doncaster does not have a train station within its precincts, so the best way to reach the Melbourne CBD is by car or by bus. There are four dedicated bus services operating at high frequency between Doncaster and the CBD (route 907), East Doncaster and Warrandyte (route 906) and The Pines and Doncaster Park and Ride (route 908).
